LADY SHA June 20 2012
You may have gathered this by the Yoshi’s post, but…next on the TASTEMAKERS series is Lady Sha.
I remember when we first worked together. It was at LiFESWELL last September (Glen suggested we book another female DJ for the event). She walked into Blu Monkey, we made our introductions, and she closed out the night. I was honestly expecting her to dip as soon as we settled, but she ended up hanging out and getting to know the entire team. We talked about the R&RCM operation, surfing, Persian food, and then exchanged numbers. Throughout the rest of the year, we would interact mostly at her gigs. I would see her spin at her Saturday residency at Winston’s (West Hollywood); she even did LiFESWELL another time. Conversations grew longer and the understanding of who we were outside of our careers became more clear. Now I can call her a friend.
We put her on TASTEMAKERS for several reasons. She’s one of the female DJs in Los Angeles that’s really doing it, she’s linked up with sportswear companies, she provides soundtracks for parties we all wish we would get into, she plays an integral role in an all female collective of talent.
