CA EXCLUSIVE: ONE RIFLE PER FAMILY UPDATE June 5 2012

I got a text on Sunday night from my good friend, Bambu, asking to see if anything was going on. I hadn’t talked to this guy in forever - he’s been working hard on the final touches of his next album, One Rifle Per Family - so I was pretty excited to hear from him. Turns out nothing was happening that night, but we told each other we’d catch up the next day. He was going to be recording at Phatrick‘s studio, and I was invited to come through. So I did.

The first single (produced by Esta and featuring Roscoe Umali) drops July 18 along with a music video that was filmed in the tenements of Tondo, Philippines. I got to hear/see both. The track goes hard, and the video gave me chills.

We got to talking more and more about the production and features on the album, The Bar (they’ll be in Vancouver next week), and his upcoming schedule. One Rifle Per Family is slated to release in September, and Bam will start touring in October. If you’re interested in having him in your city, hit up his manager C-Know at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Besides all this information you read here first, CA is also the first to get this close to Bam’s tattoo that reads “...from struggle”.

Before I left, Bam wanted to make sure that he recommended this book by Bell Hooks. He’s urging you and me to get it.
