LATE SUMMER TEES September 1 2009
Finally released - the second installation to our summer line. They are in the shop now.
CA BASEBALL
This one is pretty self explanatory - classic baseball shirt with our name written across it. Oh and the pig is on the back of it. There are two colorways: white/black and white/asphalt, printed on unisex American Apparel ¾ raglan shirt.

PEOPLE POWER
This one is my favorite. After the death of Cory Aquino last month, we felt compelled to release a t-shirt about her. After all, we do consider ourselves a cultural brand. As she continued her husband’s message of democracy, the people power revolution was well underway. The series of protests resulted in Cory’s election into presidency and was actually the inspiration for subsequent demonstrations that ultimately ended communist rule in Eastern Europe. The photo behind the text is an actual photo from a protest, taken in 1986. Look closely, and you’ll see the crowd holding up Cory posters and throwing up the signature L for laban, meaning fight. There are two tees: black and white, both with “Chicharon Adventures” on the back in yellow – the color of the revolution.

LIVE & DIE
We’re all fans of Tupac, what can we say? This is both an ode to one of the best rappers in history, and an ode to our home state of Cali. We actually did a sample run of this design on a navy tee. It sold well at Backside and at various events where we were vendors, so we brought it back for this run. There are three colorways: black/grey, white/black, cranberry/white.

CA SUMMER June 17 2009
Part one of our summer line is in the online store now.
CA & SONS There are a few things that I associate with summertime. Slip n' slide, iced tea, biking through North Hollywood, and the brand Maui & Sons. I have loved the latter since I was a child. The brand embodied California culture, the spirit of nature, and an irie lifestyle. I wore their gear all the time; ones with simple branding design, others with the signature shark on the surfboard. Because it was such an influence during my youth, we took their logo, simplified it to a simple black and white, put our name on it, and released it at the most appropriate time. It's on both a tank top and a t-shirt.

THE LOS ANGELENO This one is derived from the magazine, The New Yorker. The publication is literary, controversial, eccentric, and satirical. Perhaps that's done deliberately - to convey a typical New Yorker. With that in mind, we were challenged to convey a typical Angeleno by means of a t-shirt. So we decided to use the price on the magazine to help us out. The price one pays as a Los Angeleno is cultural immersion. My original idea was to use sanity because sometimes you go crazy just trying to keep up here. But cultural immersion implies adapting. In a city so diverse, we adapt to and absorb the different people, values, traditions, places.

STRIPED CA V-NECK I don't have anything fancy to say about this one. It's simple. It has stripes. And it's a unisex v-neck t-shirt.
