Last night the CA girls went to The Derby to check out the Rhythm Natives. It was one of those ride or die nights; I was feeling super weathered, the crowd was really small, and our boys didn't go on til an hour and a half after their scheduled performance time. But we stuck through it and the night gradually proved itself. RN performed two new tracks, we got our name plugged several times, and we had a chance to regroup about our future collaboration. Half the crew
You should all know by now who our boy Jordan is. He has designed several things for us like the Revolution tee and our One Year invitation. I'm gonna plug him again for this entry because we thrive on our friends' success and growth (think karma). He just relaunched his website to include a package deal. This approach combines his entire online presence--portfolio, blog, and social networking. We gotta hand it to him, the update is both visually and contextually pleasing. (Plus we admire fellow bloggers cuz it's often challenging.) Now more than ever, Jordan is wearing his "talent" on his sleeve.
eLa, our marketing person in the Northwest region, is performing tonight in Seattle. If you're in the area, you must check her out. Geography has me missin' out on a lot of her shit, but she's kept me updated on her latest writing. As always, the words/verses/rhymes are intriguing.
We had a couple friends in town this weekend - one from NYC and another from Manila. Because their stay was brief, we were only able to hang out for one night. I had a bunch of ideas for our excursion, but I really wanted to focus on the things I love about this city. Two things came to mind: Lakers and food. We succeeded in treating our friends to a real LA night. Then we headed down to our old stomping grounds - restaurant row near USC. My personal favorite is this shack of a restaurant called Chano's. They serve the best carne asada tacos and chili cheese fries money can buy. But for some strange reason they were closed at 9pm. To satisfy our Mexican food craving, we simply headed across the street to La Taquiza for some burritos. After much conversation, we realized that the chairs had been stacked and it was time to go.
Today we celebrate the birthday of one of the hardest working people I know. She believes in 20 hour work days and taking on project after project. Just thinking about all the work she does exhausts me. However, it does benefit us. Tricia's birthday is also her favorite holiday of the year. So who else would get super excited that this year, her birthday would be a whooping 25 hours due to the time adjustment. We started her birthday celebration this past Wednesday with the Laker-Clipper game and it continued night after night until tonight. Tonight a group of friends and family are going to one of our favorite Korean BBQ spots for some all you can eat meat and soju. It'll be lots of fun. Happy wishes to the birthday girl from the CA team.
