BAMBEENO February 22 2012
Last night, some of us chilled out with producer, Bambeeno, at his studio. In case you haven’t heard of him, he’s got his name behind some Hodgy Beats tracks, Young Life tracks, et al. He played some of the new stuff that he’s working on, and his shit thumps! It’s always dope to see people in their element, in their environment, doing what they love.

ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING February 20 2012
I pretty much take my camera everywhere I go. I take pictures for several online outlets and for my own businesses. Sometimes I see things and photograph them, but they never get published. Here’s their chance:
I cover fashion events. This one is from a Hellz Bellz x GPPR party.

At the Freshjive office.

In the studio.

On a day off.

On my way to meetings in the DTLA area.

Even at home when I’m just messing around with the camera.

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” - Elliott Erwitt

WILD THINGS February 17 2012
I saw this mural on my way into a meeting on Melrose and stopped to photograph it.

I don’t know who painted it, but thank you. I was reminded of one of my most favorite stories, reminded of one of life’s most important lessons - have fun.

DISTRICT February 16 2012
In the spirit of great local food, let me introduce you to DISTRICT, located at the edge of Little Tokyo.

We were invited there last night for a meeting about the Rick & Ray operation. It started in the front of DISTRICT - the lounge area, if you will, where the menu includes burgers, skewers, tacos, etc.

After conversing about who we are and what we do, Jason - the owner - revealed that the back of the restaurant actually serves Korean BBQ. I’m not gonna lie; Wella and I were pretty excited about this. Wella, because as I’ve mentioned in the past, is obsessed with all things Korean. And me, well I’m just obsessed with food. Jason wanted us to check out the patio, fully equipped with grills and heaters, and have dinner. So we made our way.

That’s Jason.

...and Maria and Mike. Everyone was saying that Maria is the Latina version of me. She rocks with Universal Music, Carbon (Culver City), and a new publication called “Arte”. She even works with Jason on bookings. How’s that for a full plate? (Ok, so maybe she is like me.) Mike is her husband; he’s a DJ, photographer, curator, and last night, he was a life coach.

Now, the food. The meat is good, the sides are good, they use lettuce wraps instead of rice paper, they serve mushrooms with their short ribs, it’s outside so you don’t end up smelling like food, I can keep going. I’m in DTLA most of the week as is my team. We’re all stoked that there’s finally a Korean BBQ joint in the neighborhood. And a good one, at that.
