THE LAST OF ‘EM January 5 2012

I’m about to upgrade my Blackberry. Before I transfer and clear out the old memory card, here are the last few favorite snaps from the Curve.

Tango-ing with Glen (Rhythm Natives, Rick & Ray) who is currently in Asia.

Super late pass, but I finally tried Five Guys. 10 points for using fresh jalapeƱos in their burgers.

Makeup Artist, Shelly Samia‘s, new business card.

I saw this along Van Nuys Blvd.

On one of my hikes at Griffith Park, the day was so clear that I was able to see the ocean.

I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT January 4 2012

Photo

1. Moleskine notebook and fine point pen
I jot everything down. Tasks, quotes, reminders, ideas, meeting notes, etc. When my bag was stolen, my notebook was the only thing I cared about. I go through one front and back pretty much every year, and I’m starting 2012 with a new softcover.

2. Sunglasses/Eyeglasses
I wear sunglasses all the time. Not because I think it’s cool or whatever, it’s because my eyes are real sensitive to light. When those come off, my eyeglasses come on. I’ve got these thick black frames that have evolved into my signature item. I wear them so that people remember me. (Case in point: I went to The Dirty Deuces show last week and my name on the guestlist read “Tricia with the glasses”.)

3. Canon camera
I blog on the regular. Enough said.

4. Chapstick + lip gloss
Because chapped lips are not the business.

5. Friendship bracelet
The actual one is not pictured because it’s on my wrist and I never take it off. I wear it to remind me of two things: 1. who’s who in my life, and 2. to take time.

6. Pocket knife
Let’s just say I’ve got a crazy past. You probably wouldn’t believe it if I told you. But I carry this for those “just in case” moments.

7. Comune wallet
I only carry a wallet for organization. If I didn’t, my cards and my cash would be in my pocket, and I honestly wouldn’t mind. Except that the probability of me losing something is very high.

8. Perfume
Because smelling funky is not the business.

9. Blackberry
Yes, I still have a Blackberry, and yes I still find it very beneficial.

10. Gum
Much like chapped lips and smelling funky, bad breath ain’t the biz either.

ART SHOW January 3 2012

The other day I joined a crowd of people to see Mr. Brainwash‘s expansive Art Show 2011 in a warehouse along La Brea. My photos below hardly classify as a recap; there was just so much to photograph (I think I took 300+ photos), and putting them all in one entry would probably bore you. But there were sculptures, graffiti, pop culture icons, metal elephants crushing spray cans, vandalized police cars, a jailed Colonel Sanders with chickens above him, and Darth Vader completely made out of tires. From what I understand, Brainwash gets a lot of heat for his work. Regardless of your opinion, you gotta give it up for the guy. Art Show was obviously a tiring, larger than life effort.
