I was at the 722 Figueroa x Antenna Magazine party last night that introduced the showroom’s fall collection to the public. Brands included Copy, CXXVI, Keep, Makia, Pony, Tsubo, TOVAR, LE SPECS, and NVRBRKN. Nice clothes, beautiful people, live music, and foosball. SWAG.

FAMILIAR FACES November 17 2011
I hung out with these dudes last night. It was good to be back with them. I actually found myself more motivated when I work in a live music setting. So, I might have to make some changes around here…Anyways, the Rhythm Natives are preparing for their show on Saturday, 11/19 at The Other Door in North Hollywood. It’s free, and they’ve got our friends Tony Psalms and Ro Blvd on the lineup, too.

They still have some downloads available, so if you haven’t done it already, download the entire RN album for free HERE.

WE CELEBRATED November 16 2011
Last Friday, the Rick & Ray team celebrated the release of Garfield Adams’ debut album 1st Things First. It was at Rockwell in Hollywood, the love for music was thick, GA spun his record, J. Maka El performed with him, Jon B and Ahmad were in attendance, and I ended the night playing the piano along DJ JeffCee. Congratulations to my team, and especially to GA. It’s forward and upward from here!

1st Things First is out now. Purchase the album on iTunes HERE.
Additional coverage of the release party is on Rick & Ray’s Facebook.

STARRY STARRY NIGHT November 15 2011
I made an impromptu trip to The Observatory, entertained my curiosity about the universe, and then realized that I need to buy a tripod.

ALL OVER November 14 2011
My Sunday started out with two things to do. I had to cover the Hustle Bikes x Society x Backside bike ride that started in Echo Park, and then I had to be at the Treats n’ Beats event that featured Rick & Ray‘s artist, Garfield Adams. But sometimes, plans don’t go as planned. I instead found myself with a lot of time between the two obligations. So, I went all over LA.
Over at Backside Echo Park for the bike ride.

I left once the ride started, drove down Sunset without a destination, and caught this mural by the homie Cache.

I ended up at Fairfax and took note of the bustling businesses between Oakwood and Rosewood. Honorable mentions go to Flight Club for having the Air Mags (at a cool $6k) and the vintage shop TRAYF, for having old school Starter jackets and deadstock crewnecks.

Had Mario’s for dinner.

Then to ATX to see Garfield. By the way, that venue ATX is really cool. I ran into E Reece, and finally saw Josh Koslow and Al Jackson perform together.

I rounded out the day with this view.

And here was my company for the whirlwind. Shelly, photographed at ATX, laced in Soul Assassins.
