NEW SPACE November 5 2011
I finally paid an overdue visit to Tim and Paul at Sunday Print Co. Two months ago, they moved out of their humble garage and into a full on, legitimate print shop in Mid-City. I’ve known these guys for over four years now (they were our printers when CA was selling apparel). I’ve seen them grow with new clients, new equipment, new methods, and now a new space.

In my opinion, some of the best business stories are the ones that begin with “I started by creating stuff out of my garage” (i.e. Jeff Bezos, Steve Jobs); Sunday Print Co can now add theirs.

THIRTY November 2 2011
Happy birthday to me. Everyone tells me that this is when life begins, that older is truly wiser, and that with age comes humility, power, and respect. I hope they’re right.

ON THE D LIST November 1 2011
While in Seattle, I ended up having a meeting with Brandon of D List Magazine. I met Brandon at Backside, when we were both detailing the Cash Only sample sale a few years ago. When I posted my obligatory Seattle picture on Facebook last week, B was the first to comment, reminding me that he actually left LA and took his talents north. So on the last day there, I visited his office.
Brandon is now the art director of D List - a free lifestyle publication featuring all things Northwest like food, events, fashion, etc. They’ve had LMFAO and Kim Kardashian on the cover. Currently, Zane Lamprey (the alcohol version of Anthony Bourdain) shows off his mug. They’ve had a spread on Steve Aoki and they’re about to do one on Diane Von Furstenberg. It was cool being back in a journalism space. My background is journalism, so seeing the page layouts, the storyboards, and the surrounding creative inspirations had me geeking.
It was good catching up with Brandon and hearing comparative stories about our lives, our endeavors, our cities. LA is still the best, that is all.
