GAME (D)ONE June 4 2010
Where/how I celebrated the Game One win.

You see UNDFTD’s Boston Sucks tee from 2008 up there. It’s probably one of my favorite shirts, one that is even more fitting this series. I just got word that Freshjive came out with this one yesterday. I’d get it.

THIS WEEKEND June 3 2010
There are two events happening this weekend that I really want to blast.
First is the Power Struggle album release party at Pier 23 in San Francisco on Friday, June 4. You’re familiar with the group’s front man, Nomi. We shared his story here on the e-zine last month. I ended my interview with him urging readers to pick up “Remittances” - the conscious record that takes listeners on a 12 track journey of struggle and passion. If you’re in the bay this weekend, celebrate the release of such an important, poignant record. You’ll be treated to live performances, too!

The next one is Indigo Lounge at 2nd Street Jazz in LA on Sunday, June 6. I had the opportunity of interviewing the host, Zoe Blaq, as well. Indigo Lounge is the main cultural event of her company, Piddle Productions. It’s a space for all kinds of artists to express awareness, activism, and education through poetry and music. She brings people together united by a common thread - art. At the end of that interview, I urged readers to become familiar with Zoe’s empowering events. And here I am doing you the favor!

So SF and LA, please support our friends!

AND STUFF June 1 2010
Kim and I headed to Walnut over the weekend for the Vibes and Stuff Radio BBQ. Our friend, Wella, is a host for the show that broadcasts live every Saturday and Sunday from 2p - 6p. We’ve been meaning to meet the crew, and caught them as they were just wrapping up. But we still made our introductions to the listeners, and I was even able to sing a little Lauryn on the mic.
The set up.

Introductions.

There’s Adam from Exhibition and The Noise Academy. He asked us, “What came first? Johnny Cupcakes’ ‘Cupcakes not War’ tee of CA’s ‘Chicharon not War’ tee?”

Some of the VNS crew.

That’s Mike and Stacy. Mike is an MC out of the IE. And Stacy, she’s a visual/graphic artist.

Everyone has to sign the board.
