THE END OF AN ERA October 14 2009

I’ve been pretty moved by the efforts of the community to help with the situation in the Philippines. Many people have taken time out to gather their own items, and drop them off at designated areas. The Rhythm Natives organized their own relief effort at Boj’s place this past weekend, where they collected a bunch of items and brought them to Panorama City to be sent.

Though I completely admire their goodwill, this entry isn’t about that. I, too, decided to go through my things and send them to the Philippines. My first order of business was my shoes. In the past, I was really into sneakers. I stopped collecting them about two years ago. Since then, hundreds of shoeboxes had just been sitting in my room. I hardly wore them. Maybe it’s because I grew up and my style changed, so bright Nike Dunks just weren’t cutting it for me. Now, they are all gone. I gave away about 80% of my sneakers, and kept the simple ones. I couldn’t part with my Air Safaris or the Dunk Mid Tweeds, though…
