ONLY IN SF March 31 2009 Art

I hope you're not tired of reading posts about San Fran, but my SD card is packed with blogging material from that trip.

Our hotel was adjacent to the San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design, so we decided to visit that place before walking all over the city. They were currently running an exhibit called "San Francisco Graphic Design". I didn't know that SF was known for graphic design. Let me rephrase that - I didn't know that any city was known for graphic design. Apparently SF based designers have created some of the most famed logos, packaging, websites, etc. The exhibit featured a range of that cross disciplinary work. We enjoyed it, though I must admit that sometimes I concentrate too much on how my pictures look instead of the art.

ON THE LAST DAY March 30 2009

Before leaving for LA, we did some last minute wandering around San Francisco and its outskirts. We were told to visit the Ferry Building at Pier 1 for some farmer's market type shopping and also for Acme bread. A lot of tourists think that Boudin (ya know, the place with the clam chowder bread bowl) is truth, but they are wrong.

We then made our way over to Berkeley. Kim loves this old bookstore there called Shakespeare and Co. They have an awesome selection of used and collectible books. She walked out of the store with old editions of the Bobbsey Twins. I walked out with a book on understanding Islam, and a newly translated version of the Tao Te Ching.

I admit that I judge people when I see them putting money in meters on a Sunday, especially when the sign says "Except on Sunday". I wasn't able to do such judging in Berekely, as their meters flashed "FREE" throughout the day. Kind of cool.

To end the northern tour, we stopped in 510 Skateboarding which had an awesome local artist exhibit, Upper Playground (the DTLA store is much better), and Bows and Arrows.

Now we're back in LA. And back to the grind.

ONE FINE DAY March 29 2009

Saturday in SF. Union Square, North Beach, and then Pier 23. We walked to all those places.

FIRST STOP March 28 2009

We are alive and well in northern Cali. First order of business was to stop at Chum's place and discuss the restructuring of our inventory system. Don't be jealous.

In other news, I finally updated my Twitter. Follow me!
