COME TO FRUITION February 4 2009
After Real World Seattle and Irene's frequent relapses with Lyme Disease, I hardly paid any attention to MTV. And then I was introduced to Rob and Big, who were responsible for a lot of my LOLs last year. If you don't know, the show is about the dailies of Rob Dyrdek, professional skater, and Christopher "Big Black" Boykin, his bodyguard. The show ended with the two friends parting ways, and I was pretty sad about it.But with end comes beginning, and premiering next week is Rob's new show, "Fantasy Factory". He turns fantasy into reality in a 25,000 square foot funhouse equipped with basketball courts, launchpads, halfpipes, and more. MTV called it a place "where he and his friends work hard to delay growing up". Rob Dyrdek, you are my hero.
What would your fantasy factory look like?
I TOLD YOU February 3 2009
I was in the middle of reading Slumdog Millionaire (btw, the book is as good as the movie) when I felt the sudden urge to revisit my favorite children's books. I thought I'd find dusty copies packed in a box in the garage, but I didn't. So I looked to Amazon for my fix.
Since the world caught wind of Spike Jonze's adaptation, there's been hype surrounding Maurice Sendak's illustrative masterpiece Where the Wild Things Are. Girl released a series of skateboard decks, Orisue released t-shirts, all adorned with timeless characters like Max and Moishe. And I'm down with the hype; the movie stills look amazing. This was first in my cart.

Next up was Harold and the Purple Crayon. The story is about a boy who uses a magical crayon to draw his own worlds and adventures. By and large, it's a tale of imagination, creativity, and possibility. I often associate it with the phrase "The mind is a terrible thing to waste."

And finally, I picked up Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends. Nevermind the enthralling typography on the front cover, the poems are hilarious. Crocodiles go to the dentist, and you can even wash your shadow.

I was talking with Morgan, CA's youngest team member/resident hip hop dancer/aspiring snowboarder, who suggested that these books really be in the adult section. When asked why, she told me that grown ups need to go back to using their imagination. Word.
I told you I was forever young.
THIS ONE’S FOR YOU February 2 2009
I'm not really an NFL fan, so I could've cared less about the Super Bowl. But the big game fell on an important date for the crew, and we all got together at SGRNWD. Everyone wanted the Steelers to win, but I was rooting for the Cardinals. Except when the Lakers are playing, I cheer for the underdog. I love cinderella stories; i.e. Little Giants, Ratatouille, Cool Runnings. Unfortunately, Super Bowl XLIII wasn't such a story. At least a couple commercials - I mean, trailers - excited me.

PART TWO February 1 2009 Events & Music
I wanted to post videos from The Big Pill's Saturday night show, but mine were anything but quality. I think I was standing too close to the speaker. So after the pub, crowd, and band randoms, you can enjoy a video that I borrowed from someone else. It was taken last year, but what matters is the music. And with that said, where are my CDs, G??
