IN REVIEW December 31 2008

When '08 started, the CA wheels had just gained speed. We had five succesful t-shirts under our belts, a revamped website, a diehard group of supporters, a newly acquired development team, and a knack for networking. Overall, we were prepared to bring this cultural brand to its full potential. But at the end of January, we were hit with tragedy. One part of the original CA crew, Fedy, suddenly passed away. And for a few months, the brand took a back seat. It wasn't until April that we began to regain ourselves.

By the time summer hit, we had launched a new website and released seasonal tees. I was blogging every day, and finally felt back on track. I wanted to keep pushing the brand, and thus spontaneously decided to visit Manila. Contrary to what most people thought, I didn't fall victim to culture shock. It was quite the opposite. I became more inspired by the people and most of all, by their hustle. As I touched down in LA that September evening, I had a fresh attitude about myself and about the brand. Do what you want and make do with what you have.

The fall/winter has been my favorite part of the year. Not only is it easier to remember, but we're at a point that I honestly didn't see when the year started. We celebrated our one year anniversary with asphalt colored tees and the people we love most. We added sweatshirts to our lineup, we were put in stores, and we crossed paths with good and positive people.

We're already detailing '09, and we're looking forward to it; see you then.

Thanks to all that made this year what it was:
Federick 'KFed' Canono, Sunday Print Co, RED8, Rhythm Natives, Backside, Beatrock, Pacman, Studio Artistre, Cokizzles, SGRNWD, Subrejime, eLa, jtabije, gek, Inrsole, Katrina, JB x MTRLSTC, DJ Mike Marvel, Ria, Cal Poly Pomona, BBall Junkies, Kamay at Puso, California Examiner, Manila, and Los Angeles.

PATRONIZE December 31 2008

For this last installment of the best of series, we're pickin' the two best stores of 2008. It's no surprise what they are since we've plugged them in the latter part of the year. Yup, Beatrock and Backside. They are our first stockists. And last night, me, Kim, and some of the team toasted to the news that we needed to re-up both stores. Creativity - and your appreciation for it - still thrives in our shitty economy. Thank you.
