It's good to be home. Back to the grind once I get over the jetlag. Manila - I'll miss you. The family I left behind - I'll miss you even more. MTRLSTC - let's go in December.
We just got these in the mail...about 100 complimentary tickets to the Fil-Am Expo going off at the Los Angeles Convention center on September 13-14. Holler if you want to meet the team, hang out, buy t-shirts, whatever. Hope to see you there.
I mentioned in a previous post about the skate culture (or lack thereof) here in the Philippines. I read a magazine that had a great photo spread on skaters around the University of the Philippines. So I wanted to check it out. It worked out well considering my cousin attends the school and my mom graduated from there years ago. Unfortunately there were no skaters; it was probably just a photo opportunity. Though I was pretty bummed out, I found the campus to be quite interesting. Students.
I met up with RED8 for a brainstorming session on how to make our website even better. It was my first time seeing their Makati office and actually meeting the team. The view outside their office Closer look - the squatters Workspace The boys Saw this as I was walking back to my condo. It's 1 - a play on the way Filipinos talk. "Third" becomes "turd". And 2 - the statement is written against the high rises of Makati. As I continued to walk, I saw that Turd was probably a street artist; "Turd" was written everywhere.
A friend took me out to a lounge in Makati for some drinks and music. Local bands are a staple here, making the nightlife a lot different from LA. We went to an event organized by MusikLokal, an online community that promotes talent all over the city. I have to give it up to the band I saw - Out of Body Special. The mix of rock, soul, jazz, R&B, and Latin has earned them title of one of the five Asian acts to watch in 2008. I heard why.
