A new project for Chicharon Adventures has been to design a print lookbook. Later in August we will be meeting with other companies for things like collaborations and selling in stores. We are therefore in 'preparation' mode--creating content, laying out pages, and general brainstorming. And somehow in the middle of all this, I conceptualized a new design.
Paul Pierce to a Spanish reporter: "I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself." Riiiiight. Source: Yahoo Sports
Our good friend Jordan has updated his site, jtabije.com. Of course it houses the designs that have made him famous, but it's much more to the point. Bright contrasts of pink and teal are still evident but this time you don't have to sift through the talent - it's right in front of you. Quite noticeable is the work that he did for yours truly. We approached Jordan earlier this year for a collaboration. Though the tees will not release until the fall, you get to see a sneak peek here and at jtabije.com. I think you'll agree that he did an amazing job at getting the message across. I won't mention how the concept came to fruition--I'll do that when the tee goes into the shop--but I'm sure most of you will get the gist. Jordan's next task: find the colorway. My prayers have been answered. Ever since I watched Back to the Future Part II in 1989, I wished and wished for a Hover Board. I was 8 with an obvious false sense of reality. I truly believed that I would float if I had it. Today, the Mattel Hover Board made its way to eBay (coincidentally around the sale of the highly coveted Nike Hyperdunk 2015). Starting bid? $30k. I think that might be more expensive than the DeLorean DMC-12. In case you don't remember how Marty McFly made me want the Hover Board, here it is in action:
This morning, the Chicharon Adventures team was in Downtown LA for American Apparel's annual factory flea market. It was pandemonium. Tim (Sunday Print Co) warned me about it; I should have listened.
